The
first Biennial of the Latin American
Print in San Juan, Puerto Rico openend
in January, 1970.
Luigi Marrozzini conceived the project
and spearheaded it together with
William S. Lieberman and Riva Castleman
from the Museum of Modern Art, working
under the auspices of the Institute
of Puerto Rican Culture with the
blessing of its director, Ricardo
Alegría.
195 artists from Central and Latin
America and the Caribbean participated
in the general exhibition.
The Biennial also held two special
retrospective exhibits: the prints
from 1928 -1944 by Mexican master
Orozco, and works by Puerto Rican
master printer Lorenzo Homar from
1946 -1969.
