The son of Puerto Rico's first elected governor, Luis Muñoz Marín, Luis Muñoz Lee was by profession a journalist and by vocation a painter and print maker.
He received his Master's in Journalism from Columbia University in New York and subsequently founded the Island Times, the first English language weekly journal on the island. He later was a member of the editorial staff of the San Juan Star newspaper.
Old San Juan, the city he loved, is a recurrent theme in both his paintings and prints.
