Luis Germán Cajigas was born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, in 1934. A painter and printmaker, he studied graphic arts at the workshop of the División de Educación de la Comunidad under the direction of Lorenzo Homar, together with Rafael Tufiño, and Carlos Raquel Rivera.
From 1960 to 1962 he worked as printer and Homar's assistant at the Graphic Workshop of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. In 1975 he received his Master's from Inter American University.
Known for his folkloric style which celebrates the simplicity of life, he presently has a studio in Old San Juan.
